Carbs & water weight: why the scale swings

Up 1 kg today, down 1 kg tomorrow? Often it’s water — not fat.

AAI
Scale fluctuations are often water, not fat.

Why?
- carbs are stored as glycogen
- glycogen binds water
- more carbs/salt → more water

Remember:
1 kg of fat is roughly 7,000–7,700 kcal.
That doesn’t happen overnight.

Track smarter:
- weekly average
- trend over 2–4 weeks
- waist measurements / photos

Rule:
Before changing calories, check the trend for 10–14 days.
